William has gone to see the dentist three times for a cleaning since he turned three and has LOVED it each time. During our second cleaning the dentist noticed that he had chipped a tooth and asked us to watch it because it could turn into a cavity. We did everything you could to try and prevent it, but alas the cavity formed. We scheduled an appointment to fill the cavity with out dentist in town.
We went for our appointment and the MINUTE William walked into the "cavity room" he knew what was going to happen and you could see the fear rise. Every time we have gone for a cleaning someone has been in the cavity room crying....my child is VERY aware and VERY smart. He wanted no part of being in the cavity room and promptly decided to not cooperate. The dentist knew that William liked coming and did not want to ruin any future visit. She kindly referred us to a dentist that would sadate him....if needed. And, on the way out of the cavity room, William says to me "I only want to be in this room, Mommy. Not the other room."
Today was our big day going to the new dentist. Of course it had to be a major outing. First, the dentist is in Pensacola. Second, the roads are closed ALL day. Third, I needed someone to help me watch Paul because Kevin is in Ranger cycle, and honestly, my focus is William. I asked our friend, Kim, to watch Paul, and since the roads are closed all day, she came with me to make a day of it.
We get to the dentist office. They see William and we decide to try and fill the cavity. In the middle of a mix-up I learn that they are going to us different materials than my dentist and that the filling will probably take no more than 5 minutes! They don't even have to sadate William! Before I knew it, his tooth was repaired...good as new. He was so great and so cooperative! Paulie even got a free exam! What a great day at the dentist.
