And you think ONLY girls like make-up........

So for some reason, William decided after his bath tonight that he NEEDED to paint himself with ALL of my lipsticks. What is it with him and my make-up? First it was my green concealer, then it was my lipstick, then my fingernail polish, and again it is my lipstick. I guess he just thinks it is fun....kinda like Braveheart? Cool to wear warpaint, but in shades of pink, coral, and red? I don't get it. My neighbor says it is because lipstick is moist, smooth, slimy, it glides on and off...and that part I get...but the mess part....I don't think I will ever get that. So, here are some photos of William all decked out in my make-up. Be sure to notice his legs, arms, hands, feet, and nails. Oh and, there are several photos of my bathroom too!

Notice that my make-up drawer is covered in lipstick. EVERY piece of make-up inside was also covered in various shades of Revlon. Gotta love it!

I love the hand print, and then...I don't love the hand print.

Now THIS IS a book!!!!!!!

For September, we have decided to read the The Kite Runner by Kaled Hosseini. Actually, we drew this book for the August selection, but due to timing (school, deployments, etc), the group decided some fluff was necessary. So, for the August selection we read The Nanny Diaries. You can read my comments on that book in an earlier post. We then agreed to read this book for the next month.

Anyway, back to September's book.....it was amazing. This is the kind of book I was hoping we would read. It captures you from the very beginning. The writing is crisp and simple, yet vivid and full of emotion and feeling. You connect to every character and want only the best for them. It is a book that keeps you up late into the night, yet you know that you will not be able to finish it. I would not be surprised if it becomes a movie in 5 to 10 years. There is something to offer everyone in this story. The backcover blurbs do not do it justice! What do I mean by that? Before we started the bookclub, I read about this book online....mainly the reviews and thought "Nay, that does not sound like a book I would like." Boy was I wrong....so so so wrong! It is a story of loyalty, true love and acceptance, integrity, self-conviction, and enduring friendship. I can only imagine how this story reads to those who have actually been to Afghanistan, those who have walked the streets of Kabul. I hope that if you are considering this book you will go ahead and give it a try. It is worth your time! I can't talk too much about it because several of the ladies have not read the book....a few of them have my blog address and I really do not want to spoil it! Enjoy!

Success!

We have video of the Paulie crawling! Scroll down to the bottom to check it out. Enjoy.

We are mobile....well, somewhat

Paulie has decided that he is going to try to crawl! He has been getting in the position for some time. Pulling one leg in and under his bum bum, and then springing himself forward on his hands and knees. He will stay like that for a moment or two and then try to fly forward, often falling on his belly. He then rolls from side to side and gets back up, just to start the process over again. But today, well today was different. He just started draggin' that little leg behind him to get to his desired destination.....Lisa's water bowl. So, we have taken video of him trying to do this and getting frustrated. I am in the process of uploading it......it takes time people! Remember, I am not on DSL like civilized people. Satellite is just a bit slower. So check back for the video.

Oh and if you are wondering, I am NOT pushing the crawling thing.....then I will have two crazy boys that are WAY TOO mobile in this house!

Once a upon a time......

One day, in a far away land, called Destin Commons is a store or rather, a birthplace, Build-A-Bear Workshop. We traveled to this special land with the help of our escort, Jenna. She showed William the land and how to make your dream friends come true. While visiting this land and running through the racks and bundles of toys, Mommy saw someone that would touch a special place in William's heart. Purple and magical with her flying pink wings, she delivers dreams at nighttime. She can come in many forms, but on this day she chose to become a hippo full of love and BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! Yes, that is right, Book Fairy has appeared and come to life at our house. She is filled with so much much love and was stuffed especially for William by Gaga. She flutters about during the day and night. She sleeps in various beds; William's, Mommy's, Paulie's. She travels with us into town. And, she plays so nicely with Gator and AquaPuppy. But best of all, she brings books to William and Paulie so that reading can become a life long love. She is a dear member of the Capozzoli family. We hope you enjoy her sweet pictures with William.....one of her favorite boys. I think she may start making visits to some sweet little girls I know.....Abby and Caroline. Watch for the Book Fairy and her special deliveries.

Happiness in a smile! Too cute.

My weather pixie

I love watching my weather pixie. This is the computer-generated, cartoon figure on the right side of my blog that tells the weather here at Camp Rudder. She starts the day out in a dress, moves to shorts and a bikini top, strips down to a full bikini and then remains that way for the rest of the day. Sometimes it will be 8 AM and she is in her bikini. I will then check back at 8 or 9PM and she is STILL sunbathing in her bikini.....it is too funny. Not only does she have a slammin' figure (remember she is computer generated and NOT REAL), she struts quite the pose with her pixie hair, high heels, and that coy look on her face. I sometimes wonder who even created the weather pixie....I bet you it was a man.

Mybirthday

I finally got some free time to get around to posting pictures from my birthday. We had a great celebration and party, complete with party hats!!! Aunt Sara and Gaga were here to help (mom was recovery from some surgery). Here are some sweet pictures.

Some nice family photos. I don't think they will make the Christmas card, but they did make the blog.

William was intent on helping me blow out my candles. Look at his face.

And, as you can see Paulie just loved celebrating....I can't remember what the crying was about, but the photos are just so darn cute! Even with the smush face.

New videos!!!!!

I have uploaded three new videos. It took awhile, but they are there. One is of me and William dancing. One of Paulie playing hide and seek with Daddy. And the final one of William and Paulie at dinner.

I also updated some new photos to the Flickr. Take some time in watching them!

Enjoy!

First day of school, 2007

Hooray!!!!!! Today was the first day of school. The State of Florida has set their school birthday cut-off for on or before September 1st. So, William will be in preschool for a second year due to his birthday being September 24th.

We had a great night talking about school, getting our bag together, picking out our clothes, and talking about how excited we are to see our friends. This morning went fairly well. William is a GREAT sleeper, and well, he did not want to get up this morning. But when Mommy told him about school, he flew out of bed, ate his breakfast (with little prodding), and quickly got dressed and brushed his teeth. Kevin helped me load the car and gave William his good-luck kiss. I tried to capture the moment.....a picture of William in his nice clothes with his new haircut and matching lunch bag......this is what I got.......

I was told "NO pictures, Mom! I'm going to be late for school. It is your fault, Mom!"

The drop-off went GREAT! I was a bit nervous because last year's school experience was tramatic for both of us. William did not adjust well to his first school and I switched schools with 8 weeks left last school year. This year was like night and day. William was excited about school.....we talked about it all the way into town (a 30 minute or more car ride). He did not want to wait in line to pay....he just wanted to get to his classroom. When we went in, he put his snack in his cubby and quickly ran off to play. I told him I was leaving....and without a glance or a second thought, he said "Bye Mom." No need for a hug or kiss. This is how it should be! I am thrilled that he loves his school! This year is going to be AWESOME!

Thoughts on The Nanny Diaries

I finished the second book selection for our Camp Rudderville Book Club, The Nanny Diaries. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I read this book about 6 years ago. I did not care for it the first time. I thought the main character, Nanny, was a bit annoying.....complaining a bit. The little boy, Grayer, got on my ever-lovin' nerves and his parents, well....if you ever read the book you would know. It was a quick read, but a read that I felt like I forced myself to finish.

Skip ahead 6 years and here I am re-reading the book for our book club. And I must say that I did enjoy it much more the second time. I had a better connection and more understanding for Nanny. I think that is because I am a mother now and I know how difficult it is to raise children. Now raising other people's children, I can not even imagine how difficult that would be. Mine are hard enough... and I'm their MOTHER! Anyway, back to the book, I did like the little boy this time too. He was sweet, lovable, and all-boy. There were many times that I thought of my sweet William and had to go give him kisses. Many parts of the books made me sad because of the lack of parental involvement, particularly on the father's part. I found myself getting choked up. The character of the mother....well, there is not much to say about her.....she is a transplanted Bocahontas.....living in New York City. I know too many women like her in South Florida, spent too much time with them while living there and care to not spend any more on them.

I am looking forward to this month's meeting...........WE ARE GOING TO THE MOVIES!!!!!!!! I have not been to a movie in a REALLY, REALLY LONG TIME! I am hoping that the ending is changed a bit though. That tends to happen in movies based off of books. The book ending bothered me a bit.....I wanted more from Nanny. I wanted her to confront Mrs. X....really let her have it. I am hoping that happens in the movie, and from the trailers it looks like it might go that way......we'll see! Let's hear it for all those smart-mouthed, opinionated girls......YOU ROCK!

Finally, uuuuhhh!

After uploading new videos last night, I had to process them today. For some reason, Google was have an internal error with the videos. I thought I would never get them on the blog. But, I succeeded! Scroll to the bottom of the blog and check out the new videos. Oh and, the second one is still being worked on.

Enjoy!

Time, time, time....it just goes and goes and goes

Every night I try to remember to upload some new videos. One of Kevin and William playing guitar and the other one of me and William dancing. And, of course I forget. By the end of the night, after dinner, bath and bedtime all I want to do is crawl into bed, watch tv or read a book. Most of the time I fall asleep reading. Ya know, because of the book club I am reading alot more these days. I actually enjoy it and trying to make more time for reading. Back to the videos that I forget to upload. So, instead of uploading the videos you are getting some new pictures of the kids. Hoping this will hold some of you over until later. Enjoy.

Paulie and William watching Blue's Clues.

William being funny wearing a new hat. Nah, its just his underwear!

Paulie holding his OWN bottle!

Asleep together....taking a snoozey.

OK, scrap that....

We were going to read The Kite Runner this month for our Camp Rudderville Book Club. But after reading Gilead all of us needed some fluff.....I mean come on people. Gilead was beautiful and simple in its idea and some of the writing, but it was downright boring, hard to get into, and very difficult to relate to! I am one that NEEDS to be drawn in IMMEDIATELY in order to finish. This DID NOT happen with Gilead. I am sure that the fact I was on major pain medication during the time when I was supposed to read this book didn't really help matters, but hey, the book sucked! So back to the reason for this post..... we all decided that fluff was necessary....and then we picked The Kite Runner?!?!? Huh?!?!? So, our neighbor came up with a glorious idea. We are going to read The Nanny Diaries and then go see the movie for the book club meeting. How great is that!!!!! I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! I get to have a girl's night, see a girlie movie, eat popcorn, be with friends, and GO WITHOUT MY CHILDREN! Can you say, YES.......THIS IS THE BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!!!!! The book, I could really care less about. I have already read it and did not care much for it.....but the movie part......BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!

Is this my house?

For those of you who know me, this picture captures is all........No, its not the Elmos! Its the horses!!!!!!! This picture is very accurate of my house and childhood loves, which have turned into an adult love......horses. The majority of these horses are mine from when I was a girl. I gave them to William to play with. Our neighbor, Jenna, William's new friend has also given him several of these horses. Most of them have names. There is Thunderbolt, Shinning Moon, and Phillipe. I will learn the rest and let you know. Just had to document the photo of horses....for myself and William.

In other news, Kevin pulled out his old guitar when Jenna was at the house talking about buying a pink guitar. Kevin cleaned it up and strummed a few notes. William really got into it. Here is an adorable photo of the two. There is also video.....so watch for it.
